Luis Cantu earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2025. His research focused on antibiotic production in soil-dwelling Actinobacteria, using Streptomyces coelicolor to study a conserved regulatory network found in ~70% of Actinobacteria that controls antibiotic biosynthesis.
