Germán Bonilla-Rosso, Ph.D.
Researcher, Molecular Agroecology and Plant Ecology – Agroscope (Switzerland)
As a microbial ecologist, Germán aims to understand the structure and function of microbial communities. He obtained his Ph.D. from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and has since conducted research on function and microbiomes of open ocean waters and marine sediments, agricultural soils and host-associated microbiota at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Sweden and the University of Lausanne and the Centre of Excellence for Agricultural Research (Agroscope) of the Swiss Confederation. His research integrates "-omics" technologies that link the genomic diversity with their ecological and physiological functions across diverse organisms, environments and approaches. His current role is to translate state-of-the-art approaches and data analysis techniques of microbial ecology into applied solutions along the food production chain to ensure a productive and sustainable agriculture.
Max Cravener, Ph.D.

Max received his Ph.D. in 2022 from University of Georgia in Microbiology with a focus on fungal genetics where he worked with Candida albicans studying natural variation among clinical isolates and how gene expression and regulatory differences can impact their ability to form biofilms on implanted medical devices.
